8th Tallest Mountain in the World

I had to move quickly here as Manaslu popped out for about one second before the clouds came swirling back in. About 50 attempts at this shot and this is the only "moment decisif". This was early in the morning of our climb of Sama Hill, at the start of a legendary and quite epic day in the mountains.

Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of Learning, and that was what this day felt like - the turning of a corner, when you have begun to learn your technique. This photo is dedicated to her visits and what she has taught me about photographing the Himalaya.
